Anesthesiology Residency Program

1. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent medical degree from an eligible medical school.
2. Applicants must submit a completed Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application.
3. Applicants must provide a curriculum vitae, medical school transcript, and Medical Student Performance Evaluation (Dean’s Letter).
4. Applicants must submit three or four letters of recommendation.
5. Applicants must provide their United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 score.
6. Applicants must submit a personal statement.
7. Applicants must complete an appropriate preliminary or transitional internship before starting the advanced anesthesiology residency.
8. Applicants applying for a linked internship position at Scripps Mercy San Diego must submit a separate application for that internship.

1. Apply to the Anesthesiology Residency Program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Complete and submit the MyERAS application form, curriculum vitae, medical school transcript, Medical Student Performance Evaluation, three or four recommendation letters, United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 score, and personal statement.
3. The Resident Recruitment and Selection Committee reviews completed applications.
4. Attend a virtual interview if shortlisted. Interviews are generally scheduled on Wednesdays during the October–November recruitment period.
5. Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and submit the required rank order list.
6. Applicants seeking a linked preliminary internship at Scripps Mercy San Diego must submit a separate ERAS application to that internship program.
7. Await the official match results and complete the required credentialing and appointment procedures before joining.
