Plastic Surgery Residency

• MD/DO or an equivalent medical degree.
• International Medical Graduates must possess a valid ECFMG certificate before beginning residency.
• Strong academic and clinical performance in medical school.
• A completed research project resulting in a presentation or publication is required.
• Strong letters of recommendation demonstrating communication, teamwork, work ethic, and professionalism.
• Meet eligibility requirements for appointment at UIC.

The Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is an ACGME-accredited six-year integrated residency program that provides comprehensive training in reconstructive, cosmetic, craniofacial, hand, microsurgery, breast reconstruction, and gender-affirming surgery. Residents receive progressive responsibility through a structured curriculum that combines general surgery, plastic surgery–adjacent specialties, and advanced plastic surgery training. The program emphasizes operative experience, simulation-based education, research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and leadership development to prepare graduates for independent practice or academic careers.
