Otolaryngology Residency Program

The Otolaryngology (ENT) Residency Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a fully accredited five-year training program that provides comprehensive education in both medical and surgical management of ear, nose, throat, and head & neck disorders. The program offers extensive clinical exposure through multiple affiliated hospitals, allowing residents to work with a large and diverse patient population and gain experience across all subspecialties of otolaryngology. Training includes a balanced combination of inpatient and outpatient care, operative surgery, basic sciences, and research, with close faculty supervision and progressive responsibility at each level. The program emphasizes hands-on surgical skills, multidisciplinary collaboration, and academic development, ensuring residents are well prepared for independent practice or advanced fellowship training.

1. Apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
2. Submit required documents: CV, personal statement, medical school transcript, USMLE/COMLEX scores, and letters of recommendation
3. Applications are reviewed and shortlisted by the program committee
4. Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview (often virtual)
5. Final selection is done through the NRMP Match (National Resident Matching Program)
