Master of Science in Physics

Overview

The M.Sc. Physics program at Lady Brabourne College, under the University of Calcutta, is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of advanced areas of physics, combining rigorous theory with experimental practice. The curriculum covers quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, electronics, statistical mechanics, computational physics, and astrophysics, along with opportunities for research projects and seminars. This course equips students with problem-solving skills, research methodology, and practical expertise, making them well-prepared for research (Ph.D.), teaching, scientific organizations, R&D laboratories, and industries such as electronics, IT, aerospace, and renewable energy.

Eligibility

B.Sc. Honours in Physics with required aggregate marks (generally 55% or above, relaxation as per government norms).

Admission is through the University of Calcutta PG Entrance Test (CUET-PG / Calcutta University PG Exam) or direct merit for CU candidates.

Reservation as per West Bengal state/University of Calcutta rules.
