The existing colleges for girls in Calcutta are scarcely sufficient to meet the growing demand for higher education among girls, and the provisions in these institutions are neither satisfactory nor suitable for Muslim girls. Consequently, a decision has been made to establish a new college for Muslim girls, named ‘The Purdah College,’ commencing from July 1939. Non-Muslim students will also be admitted, subject to the availability of vacancies.
