The Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a highly specialized ACGME-accredited residency that combines comprehensive diagnostic radiology education with advanced training in image-guided minimally invasive therapies. Based primarily at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one of the nation's leading academic medical centers, the program provides exposure to a broad spectrum of complex vascular and nonvascular interventions. Residents receive extensive training in diagnostic imaging while progressively developing procedural expertise in interventional radiology. The curriculum incorporates advanced imaging interpretation, patient consultation, longitudinal clinical care, peri-procedural management, and complex image-guided interventions. Residents work closely with multidisciplinary teams including vascular surgery, oncology, hepatology, transplant surgery, nephrology, trauma surgery, and critical care specialists. Educational activities include multidisciplinary conferences, tumor boards, simulation training, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality conferences, and research opportunities. The program places strong emphasis on innovation, evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and clinical outcomes research. Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for certification through the American Board of Radiology in Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology and for careers in academic medicine, tertiary-care hospitals, private practice, interventional oncology, vascular interventions, and advanced image-guided therapies.
