Interventional Radiology Residency Program

1. MD or DO degree from an LCME- or COCA-accredited medical school
2. Successful completion of USMLE or COMLEX licensing exams
3. Application and matching through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) and NRMP (National Resident Matching Program)
4. Personal statement, CV, letters of recommendation, medical school transcripts, and performance evaluations
5. Applicants must meet graduation timeline expectations based on Aurora criteria and may be prioritized based on exam performance and communication skills

The Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee is an ACGME-accredited integrated residency that blends diagnostic radiology knowledge with advanced procedural training in interventional radiology. Residents begin with a transitional clinical internship year before integrating into a curriculum that combines diagnostic imaging, vascular and non-vascular image-guided interventions, and clinical patient care. During postgraduate years two through four, trainees rotate through core diagnostic radiology services and early interventional experiences, developing strong skills in imaging interpretation and clinical decision-making. In the fifth and sixth years, residents focus on immersive interventional practice, including procedural training, inpatient and outpatient clinical management, and advanced techniques. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership, preparing graduates to excel in both clinical practice and academic radiology settings. Scholars engage in structured educational modules covering key areas of interventional radiology, multidisciplinary conferences, and clinical research opportunities. Upon completion, residents are eligible to sit for the American Board of Radiology Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR) certification exam, positioning them for careers in private practice or academic medicine.
