The Neurocritical Care Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced training in the management of critically ill patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Fellows train in UAB’s dedicated 46-bed Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit and gain experience across medical, surgical, cardiac, and trauma intensive care units. The program includes training in neurocritical care, vascular neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and anesthesiology, with elective opportunities in neuroradiology, epilepsy, cerebrovascular ultrasound, and neurosurgery. Fellows also participate in bedside teaching, procedures, point-of-care ultrasound, multidisciplinary conferences, research, and scholarly activities.
