The Surgical Pathology Fellowship is a 1-year advanced fellowship program designed to provide intensive training in diagnostic surgical pathology. The fellowship offers broad exposure to complex surgical specimens with emphasis on surgical oncology, melanoma, ophthalmic pathology, soft tissue pathology, hepatic pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology, and transplant pathology. Fellows gain hands-on experience in gross examination of complex specimens, microscopic diagnosis, frozen section interpretation, sign-out sessions, multidisciplinary clinicopathologic conferences, resident and medical student teaching, and research activities. The program also provides access to advanced diagnostic resources including immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, laser capture microdissection, tissue microarrays, and bioinformatics, preparing fellows for independent practice as surgical pathologists.
