Fellowship in Spine Surgery

The Spine Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is a comprehensive, high-level training program focused on the diagnosis and surgical management of a wide range of spinal disorders. Fellows gain extensive hands-on experience in treating conditions such as degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities, trauma, tumors, and complex reconstructive cases, with exposure to a high volume of procedures performed annually. The program emphasizes advanced surgical techniques, including instrumentation and minimally invasive spine surgery, while fostering a multidisciplinary approach through collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and rehabilitation specialists. In addition to clinical training, fellows participate in research, academic activities, and teaching, enabling them to develop strong clinical judgment, operative skills, and academic expertise required for independent practice and leadership roles in spine surgery
