Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology

The Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is a three-year ACGME-accredited training program focused on comprehensive care of children with kidney disorders. Fellows receive clinical training in acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis, electrolyte and acid-base disorders, dialysis, and kidney transplantation, with rotations in inpatient nephrology, outpatient dialysis, continuity care, pathology, urology, rheumatology, transplant, and dialysis. The program has a strong academic and research focus, with 80% protected time for research and scholarly activity during Years 2 and 3, preparing fellows for careers as pediatric nephrologists, clinical researchers, and academic leaders.

1. Apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
2. Submit a personal statement describing academic and career goals and previous research experience, if applicable
3. Submit USMLE scores and medical school transcripts
4. Submit 3 letters of recommendation:
5. 1 from the residency program director
6. 2 from faculty who worked closely with the applicant during residency or afterward
5. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship program
6. Selected applicants proceed through the interview/selection process
7. For the combined Adult/Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship, the application is submitted through the adult Nephrology Fellowship Program
