Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is an ACGME-accredited 3-year fellowship that provides comprehensive clinical, research, and teaching training in pediatric infectious diseases. Fellows receive inpatient and outpatient experience in diagnosing and managing infections in neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, including infections in immunocompromised patients and pediatric HIV. Training also includes clinical microbiology, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, special pathogens, epidemiology, research methodology, biostatistics, scientific writing, and grant writing. Fellows have opportunities for research ranging from bench science to clinical and epidemiological research, with training across multiple hospitals and collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health.

1. Apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
2. Submit the required application documents, including CV, personal statement, USMLE transcript, medical school transcript/diploma, and ECFMG certificate if applicable.
3. Submit 3 letters of recommendation, including one from the residency program director.
4. The program reviews applications and selects qualified applicants for interviews.
5. The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
6. Final fellowship placement is completed through the applicable NRMP Pediatric Specialties Match.
