The Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology at UC Irvine School of Medicine, conducted in partnership with CHOC, is a 3-year ACGME-accredited subspecialty program designed to train physicians in the comprehensive care of children with blood disorders and cancers. The program provides intensive clinical exposure in managing conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, anemia, and coagulation disorders, with a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary and patient-centered care. The first year primarily focuses on developing clinical expertise through inpatient and outpatient rotations, while the second and third years emphasize research, scholarly activity, and subspecialty training. Fellows gain experience in chemotherapy protocols, transfusion medicine, and supportive care, along with opportunities in clinical and translational research. The program aims to develop future leaders, clinicians, and physician-scientists in pediatric hematology and oncology, preparing them for careers in academic medicine and advanced clinical practice.
