Fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology

The Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical Center is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship designed to train pathologists in advanced molecular diagnostics. Fellows develop expertise in the interpretation, implementation, validation, and clinical application of molecular testing across inherited disorders, hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, infectious diseases, engraftment analysis, and pharmacogenomics. Training includes extensive experience with next-generation sequencing, PCR/RT-PCR, MLPA, and Sanger sequencing, along with laboratory management, quality assurance, test development, and validation. Fellows also collaborate with clinicians and genetic counselors, participate in research, and receive integrated coursework and clinical experiences in human genetics.

1. Complete the University of Minnesota Fellowship Application Form.
2. Submit an updated CV.
3. Submit a letter of intent describing fellowship interests, relevant experience, and career goals.
4. Submit USMLE or COMLEX scores (all steps).
5. Submit a copy of the medical diploma.
6. Submit 3 letters of recommendation.
7. IMGs must provide a valid ECFMG certificate and meet J-1 visa requirements, if applicable.
8. Applications are reviewed and selected candidates are invited for an interview.
9. The Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship participates in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
