Fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology

The Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at UCSF is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship designed to train fellows for careers as independent laboratory directors and academic leaders in molecular genetic pathology. The program provides training in cancer genetics, inherited diseases, infectious diseases, pharmacogenomics, and cytogenetics, along with clinical genetics experience. Fellows gain hands-on expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS), array technologies, circulating nucleic acid detection, molecular test interpretation and reporting, test development and validation, laboratory management, and clinical consultation. Training takes place across four major testing laboratories and includes molecular tumor boards, genetics conferences, research projects, test-validation projects, and laboratory management training.

2. Meet the required AP, CP, or AP/CP residency training criteria
3. Ensure that you meet the applicable ABP/ABMGG certification requirements if pursuing board certification
4. Submit the required academic and professional application materials
5. Applications are reviewed based on academic, professional, and interest criteria
6. Selected applicants proceed through the program's interview and selection process
7. Successful candidates complete UCSF's required credentialing, licensing, visa, and appointment requirements before starting the fellowship
