Overview

The Glaucoma Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an intensive one-year super-specialty program designed to provide advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex glaucomatous diseases. Fellows gain comprehensive experience in medical management, laser therapies, and advanced surgical techniques for open-angle, angle-closure, congenital, secondary, and refractory glaucoma. Surgical training includes trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and laser procedures such as SLT and peripheral iridotomy. Fellows actively participate in high-volume outpatient clinics, surgical theaters, and multidisciplinary case discussions. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, longitudinal patient care, and preservation of visual function. Teaching of residents and participation in clinical research are integral components. Graduates are well prepared for subspecialty clinical practice or academic careers in glaucoma care.
