Fellowship in Glaucoma

1. Applicants must have completed an Ophthalmology Residency Program before beginning the fellowship.
2. The UAB Glaucoma Fellowship is compliant with the AUPO (Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology) Fellowship Compliance Committee requirements.
3. Applicants must meet the applicable UAB fellowship and employment requirements.
4. Candidates must be eligible to participate in advanced clinical and surgical ophthalmology training.

The Glaucoma Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year advanced clinical fellowship focused on the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. Fellows gain extensive experience in complex glaucoma care and surgical procedures, including filtering surgery, glaucoma drainage devices, cataract surgery, goniotomy, and 360-degree trabeculotomy. The program provides progressive surgical responsibility along with opportunities to manage patients in glaucoma clinics and teach and supervise ophthalmology residents in clinical and surgical settings.
