Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine

1. Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
2. Three letters of recommendation: one from the residency program director, one from a clinical mentor, and one from a geriatrician.
3. Submission of a complete curriculum vitae.
4. Submission of a one-page personal statement.
5. Submission of United States Medical Licensing Examination or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination results, as applicable.
6. Compliance with the fellowship application and matching requirements.

The Geriatric Medicine Clinical Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine is a one-year program designed to prepare physicians to care for older adults with complex medical and functional needs. Fellows rotate through inpatient, outpatient, community-based, home-based, and long-term care settings affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System. Training includes comprehensive geriatric assessments, dementia and delirium management, falls prevention, medication review, palliative care, rehabilitation, and care planning. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork, patient-centered care, teaching, and individualized mentorship. Flexible elective opportunities allow fellows to tailor training to their future clinical or academic careers.
