Fellowship in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology

• Completion of a 4-year Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) residency or a 3-year Anatomic Pathology (AP) residency.
• Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in AP or AP/CP.
• Must obtain a California Medical License before starting the fellowship.
• Applicants must have U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Card status (J-1 and H-1B visas are not supported).

The Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a one-year advanced training program focused on developing expertise in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and biliary tract diseases. The fellowship provides comprehensive exposure to surgical pathology, biopsy interpretation, cytopathology, liver transplant pathology, and complex consultation cases. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary conferences, tumor boards, clinical-pathological correlation activities, teaching, and research projects. The program emphasizes advanced diagnostic skills, including evaluation of neoplastic and non-neoplastic disorders, and prepares fellows for independent practice and academic careers in gastrointestinal and liver pathology.
