Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a three-year advanced clinical fellowship program designed to provide comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. The program offers extensive clinical and procedural experience in areas including general gastroenterology, hepatology, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal oncology, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and liver diseases. Fellows gain hands-on experience through inpatient consults, outpatient clinics, endoscopy services, and rotations across affiliated teaching hospitals. The fellowship also emphasizes clinical research, academic development, and evidence-based patient care, preparing graduates for independent practice or academic careers in gastroenterology and hepatology.

4. Selected candidates are invited for an interview
5. Final selection is completed through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
6. Selected fellows complete credentialing and onboarding before beginning fellowship training
