Fellowship in Gastroenterology

1. Completed an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency
2. Completion of USMLE/COMLEX licensing exams
3. Submission of ERAS application with CV, personal statement, and letters of recommendation
4. Participation in the NRMP match process using the fellowship’s program code (NRMP – 1787144F0)
5. Applicants requiring J-1 visa sponsorship are considered (H visas not sponsored)

The Gastroenterology Fellowship at Aurora Health Care is a three-year postgraduate ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship program designed to prepare physicians for independent practice and board eligibility in gastroenterology. Training occurs primarily at two major campuses — Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center and Aurora Sinai Medical Center — offering diverse exposure to inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care. Fellows rotate through a broad range of services including general GI consults, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, nutrition, and advanced endoscopy. The structured rotation schedule spans 13 blocks covering outpatient care, inpatient consults, research, and electives such as ERCP, motility studies, pediatric GI, and colorectal surgery. Fellows participate in weekly GI continuity clinics and a robust didactic series including GI guidelines, hepatoma rounds, multidisciplinary conferences, core curriculum, pathology conferences, journal clubs, and oncology case reviews. Research opportunities are embedded in the curriculum, allowing fellows to pursue scholarly activity in clinical interest areas. The program emphasizes developing high-level clinical competence, procedural expertise, and professional development in the full scope of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
