The Dermatopathology Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program jointly sponsored by the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology, open to candidates board eligible or certified in either Anatomic Pathology or Dermatology. Fellows gain extensive hands-on experience through a high-volume dermatopathology service processing over 24,000 skin cases annually, supported by a large dermatology clinic performing more than 4,000 biopsies a year, and are trained in histopathological diagnosis, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and molecular studies. The program emphasizes active participation in clinical service, research, and teaching across both departments, preparing fellows for academic careers in dermatopathology.
