The Dermatopathology Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is a 2-year advanced fellowship program designed to prepare physicians for careers in diagnostic dermatopathology, academic medicine, and specialized clinical practice. The first year of the fellowship is ACGME-accredited, while the second year provides additional advanced training and academic development. Fellows receive extensive exposure to high-volume dermatopathology cases, including challenging consultation cases from national and international sources, and gain expertise in interpreting skin biopsy specimens, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and molecular diagnostic techniques. The program also provides opportunities for clinicopathologic research in areas such as melanoma, cutaneous lymphomas, vascular tumors, and inflammatory skin diseases, helping fellows develop advanced diagnostic skills and an academic career profile.
