The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship that prepares psychiatrists for expert practice at the interface of medicine and psychiatry. Based within the nationally recognized Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the program provides comprehensive clinical training across Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Prentice Women's Hospital, and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Fellows manage patients with complex psychiatric conditions complicated by acute and chronic medical illnesses, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across medical, surgical, neurological, transplant, oncology, rehabilitation, and critical care services. The curriculum combines intensive inpatient consultation services with longitudinal outpatient experiences in transplant psychiatry, collaborative care, palliative care, addiction psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and traumatic brain injury programs. Fellows participate in weekly didactic sessions, individualized faculty supervision, interdisciplinary rounds, departmental grand rounds, and quality improvement initiatives. Each fellow completes scholarly and research projects while receiving mentorship from nationally recognized faculty. Graduates become eligible to sit for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Subspecialty Certification Examination and are well prepared for academic, hospital-based, and integrated behavioral healthcare careers.
