The Clinical and Surgical Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine (Gavin Herbert Eye Institute), Irvine is a 12-month advanced fellowship program designed to provide specialized training in clinical and surgical neuro-ophthalmology. The program focuses on the evaluation and management of complex disorders affecting the eye, optic nerve, brain, and visual pathways, including optic nerve diseases, visual loss, diplopia, eye movement disorders, and neurogenic visual conditions. Fellows receive hands-on clinical and surgical experience in areas such as adult strabismus surgery, adjustable suture techniques, botulinum toxin procedures, nystagmus management, and related neuro-ophthalmic surgical interventions. The fellowship also includes opportunities for clinical research, multidisciplinary case discussions, journal clubs, resident teaching, and academic activities, preparing graduates for careers as neuro-ophthalmologists and academic eye specialists.
