Fellowship in Neuro Ophthalmology

The Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is an advanced subspecialty training program focused on the diagnosis and management of complex disorders affecting the optic nerve, visual pathways, and neurological control of eye movements. The fellowship provides intensive clinical exposure to conditions such as optic neuritis, papilledema, neuro-visual disorders, cranial nerve palsies, and visual field abnormalities. Fellows gain hands-on experience in neuro-imaging interpretation (MRI/CT), visual field analysis, and electrophysiological testing, working in a multidisciplinary environment alongside neurology, neurosurgery, and radiology teams. The program emphasizes both clinical excellence and academic development, encouraging participation in research, teaching, and case discussions, thereby preparing fellows for careers in academic neuro-ophthalmology or specialized clinical practice.
