Fellowship in Blood Banking Transfusion Medicine

The Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine Fellowship provides comprehensive training in transfusion medicine, immunohematology, blood banking, blood component therapy, apheresis, cell therapy, coagulation, donor services, laboratory administration, and quality management. Training includes rotations at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, American Red Cross/Memorial Blood Centers, and Minneapolis VA Medical Center, with elective opportunities in areas such as HLA/immunology, pediatric transfusion medicine, research, and advanced cell therapy.

1. Submit the University of Minnesota Fellowship Application Form.
2. Provide an updated CV.
3. Submit a letter of intent describing the fellowship, interests, relevant experience, and career goals.
4. Submit USMLE/COMLEX test scores.
5. Provide a copy of the medical diploma/MD certificate.
6. Submit three letters of recommendation.
7. International medical graduates should also provide a copy of their valid ECFMG certificate.
8. Complete applications are reviewed, and selected candidates are invited for an interview.
9. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; the department recommends applying by October 1 of the year before the fellowship start date.
