The Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship is a 12-month advanced training program designed to prepare physicians for careers in blood banking and transfusion medicine across academic medical centers, community blood centers and private practice settings. Training covers donor testing, blood processing, transfusion consultation, immunohematology reference services, therapeutic and donor apheresis, coagulation, tissue typing, peripheral blood stem cell collection and blood bank management. Fellows train at major clinical and blood-center sites, gain exposure to cellular therapy and specialized laboratory services, participate in research, and contribute to teaching residents and medical students.
