Fellowship in Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine

The Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is a 12-month ACGME-accredited fellowship providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary training in the care of complex critically ill patients. Fellows rotate through cardiovascular, surgical, medical, and neurocritical care ICUs, with exposure to high-acuity cases including ECMO, ventricular assist devices, organ transplantation, and complex cardiovascular disease. The program also provides hands-on training in critical care procedures, POCUS, bronchoscopy, airway management, palliative care, structured didactics, teaching, and quality-improvement projects. Fellows progressively assume greater clinical independence to prepare for independent critical care practice.

1. Apply through the SF Match Centralized Application Service (CAS) for Anesthesiology Critical Care fellowships.
2. Complete the required CAS application.
3. Submit three letters of recommendation through SF Match.
4. Submit the required program distribution list.
5. Complete SF Match registration and payment of applicable fees.
6. The fellowship selection committee evaluates applicants based on educational preparation, academic credentials, clinical ability, communication skills, motivation, integrity, and other personal qualities.
7. Final selection is completed through the SF Match process.
