Fellowship Course in Sleep Medicine

The Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an intensive one-year postgraduate training program designed to develop physicians with comprehensive expertise in sleep disorders. The program offers balanced clinical exposure across adult and pediatric sleep medicine, including evaluation and management of sleep-disordered breathing, hypersomnolence, insomnia, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and movement disorders during sleep. Fellows receive hands-on training in polysomnography interpretation, home sleep testing, positive airway pressure therapies, and multidisciplinary sleep clinic care. Training is conducted within accredited sleep laboratories and outpatient clinics, with close collaboration among pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, and ENT services. The curriculum integrates structured didactics, case conferences, journal clubs, and quality improvement initiatives. Graduates are prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) subspecialty certification in Sleep Medicine and for careers in academic medicine, hospital-based sleep centers, or specialized sleep clinics.

1. Complete Residency Training in an eligible primary specialty.
2. Prepare Application Documents: Curriculum vitae, personal statement, letters of recommendation (including one from residency program director), and proof of training completion.
3. Apply via ERAS: Submit fellowship application during the designated application cycle.
4. Interview Process: Shortlisted applicants are invited for interviews (virtual or in person).
5. Selection Outcome: Final selection through match or institutional review process.
6. Licensing & Credentialing: Complete Oklahoma medical licensure and institutional onboarding.
7. Commencement of Fellowship: Fellowship begins as per academic calendar, typically July 1.
