Fellowship Course in Adolescent Medicine

The Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine Fellowship at UCSF is a three-year, ACGME-accredited subspecialty program designed to train physicians in delivering comprehensive, developmentally appropriate care to adolescents and young adults. The program focuses on managing a wide range of medical and psychosocial issues, including mental health, reproductive and sexual health, eating disorders, substance use, and chronic diseases. Fellows gain hands-on experience across diverse clinical settings such as outpatient adolescent clinics, inpatient consult services, community health programs, and specialized care units, while working within interdisciplinary teams. The curriculum integrates clinical training with research, public health, education, and policy, with strong mentorship to develop scholarly and leadership skills. Overall, the program aims to prepare fellows to become leaders in adolescent medicine, capable of advancing clinical care, research, and advocacy for youth health at regional, national, and global levels.
