About Course

The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is one of the leading interventional endoscopy training programs in the United States. The fellowship is designed for gastroenterologists seeking advanced expertise in therapeutic endoscopy and complex gastrointestinal interventions. The program provides intensive hands-on training under nationally recognized faculty members within NYU Langone Health's Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
The fellowship offers two distinct educational pathways: a Comprehensive Program and a Pancreatobiliary Focus Program. Fellows receive extensive exposure to advanced gastrointestinal procedures and gain proficiency in managing complex pancreatic, biliary, esophageal, gastric, and intestinal disorders.
Training includes advanced ERCP and EUS procedures, luminal stenting, advanced tissue resection techniques such as EMR and ESD, endoscopic full-thickness resection, deep enteroscopy, bariatric endoscopy, anti-reflux procedures, and third-space endoscopy techniques including POEM. Fellows participate in some of the most technically advanced endoscopic procedures currently available.
NYU Langone provides exceptionally high procedural volume, with more than 900 ERCPs, over 1,200 EUS procedures, approximately 120 ESD procedures, and around 140 POEM procedures performed annually. This extensive clinical exposure allows fellows to develop advanced technical competency and procedural confidence.
The program emphasizes comprehensive patient care beyond technical procedures. Fellows learn patient selection, procedural planning, complication management, post-procedure follow-up, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making in advanced gastrointestinal disease management.
Research is an important component of the fellowship. Fellows actively participate in clinical studies, endoscopic innovation projects, video case presentations, and national conference presentations. Opportunities exist to collaborate with faculty on research related to pancreatic disease, therapeutic endoscopy, gastrointestinal oncology, and emerging endoscopic technologies.
Educational activities include advanced endoscopy conferences, multidisciplinary tumor boards, case review sessions, research meetings, and national society activities. Fellows are encouraged to present scholarly work at regional and national meetings and contribute to academic publications.
Graduates of the fellowship are prepared for careers in academic gastroenterology, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, pancreaticobiliary disease programs, interventional endoscopy centers, and leadership positions within major healthcare institutions.
