• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.

The Combined Anatomic Pathology/Neuropathology (AP/NP) Fellowship Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a unique four-year integrated training pathway designed for physicians pursuing careers in neuropathology. The curriculum combines two years of focused anatomic pathology residency with two years of comprehensive ACGME-accredited neuropathology fellowship training, allowing trainees to achieve board eligibility in both disciplines. Clinical training is centered at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, with additional experience at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern's Diagnostic Molecular Biology Laboratory. Fellows gain exposure to neurosurgical pathology, neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular pathology, pediatric neuropathology, forensic neuropathology, ophthalmic pathology, and advanced molecular diagnostics, including DNA methylation profiling. The program reviews approximately 3,000 neurosurgical, autopsy, neuromuscular, forensic, and consultation cases annually. Trainees participate in multidisciplinary neuro-oncology tumor boards, neuromuscular consensus conferences, resident education, and scholarly research. Graduates are prepared for academic careers, subspecialty clinical practice, and physician-scientist pathways in neuropathology.
