The Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at Lurie Children’s Hospital is a one-year, ACGME-accredited postgraduate training program designed to enhance clinical diagnostic and investigative skills in pediatric pathology. Fellows receive comprehensive exposure to a wide range of pediatric pathology disciplines including surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology, perinatal pathology, molecular diagnostics, immunology, and ancillary laboratory techniques. The program is based primarily within the Lurie Children’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, with some rotations occurring through Northwestern Memorial Hospital for perinatal pathology experience. Fellows interpret a high volume of complex cases, engage in multidisciplinary collaboration with pediatric surgery, oncology, radiology, and other specialties, and work with specialized specimen registries including congenital cardiac specimen collections and pediatric tumor databases. Training emphasizes both hands-on clinical service and scholarly engagement with cutting-edge diagnostic technologies. Graduates of this fellowship are prepared for careers in academic pediatric pathology, diagnostic laboratory leadership, and collaborative clinical practice.
