Fellowship in Breast Pathology

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited AP or AP/CP residency.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology.
• Eligible to obtain an unrestricted permanent Illinois medical license.
• Must meet credentialing requirements of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
• Program accepts U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Green Card holders for ASTP fellowships.

The Breast Pathology Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a highly competitive one-year Advanced Specialty Training Program designed to develop expertise in diagnostic breast pathology. The fellowship is based within one of the nation's leading academic pathology departments and emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to breast disease. Fellows participate in the evaluation of more than 5,500 in-house breast pathology cases and approximately 1,000 referral consultation cases annually, providing exposure to a broad spectrum of benign, premalignant, and malignant breast lesions. Training includes extensive experience with immunohistochemistry, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), molecular diagnostics, and contemporary breast pathology reporting. Fellows attend weekly Breast Tumor Board meetings and Breast Pathology–Radiology Clinical Correlation Conferences, fostering collaboration with breast surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and radiation oncologists. The program also offers opportunities for translational and clinical research through the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic pathology, tertiary referral centers, and specialized breast pathology practice.
