The Anesthesiology Residency Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a four-year ACGME-accredited residency program designed to train residents to become competent, independent, and board-certified anesthesiologists. The program provides comprehensive clinical training in anesthesiology, pain management, critical care, and perioperative medicine with progressively increasing levels of responsibility throughout residency. Residents receive hands-on experience in various subspecialties including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, cardiovascular anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, critical care, and acute pain management. The curriculum includes structured didactic education, simulation training, case conferences, journal clubs, board preparation, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), clinical workshops, research opportunities, and faculty mentorship to develop advanced clinical skills and leadership abilities required for independent anesthesia practice.
