Anesthesiology Residency Program

The Anesthesiology Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is an ACGME-accredited residency training program that provides comprehensive education and clinical experience in perioperative medicine, anesthesia care, critical care, and pain management. The program offers structured training through rotations in general anesthesia, subspecialty anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, regional anesthesia, critical care medicine, and pain medicine. Residents gain hands-on experience in managing complex surgical patients, developing advanced airway and procedural skills, and applying evidence-based approaches to patient care. The program also emphasizes research, education, mentorship, and leadership development, preparing graduates for independent practice in anesthesiology and further subspecialty fellowship training.

1. Register and submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
2. Prepare and upload required application documents:

• USMLE/COMLEX examination scores

1. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must submit ECFMG certification and required documentation
2. Application review is conducted by the Anesthesiology Residency Selection Committee
3. Selected candidates are invited for residency interviews
4. Candidates participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
5. Submit rank order list through NRMP
6. Match results determine final residency placement
7. Complete onboarding, credentialing, licensing, and visa formalities (if applicable) before starting residency
