The Addiction Medicine Fellowship offered through a partnership between Caron Treatment Centers and Tower Health’s Reading Hospital provides highly specialized, comprehensive training in evidence-based addiction medicine. Fellows are trained in residential behavioral health treatment, medical detoxification and withdrawal management, outpatient substance use disorder clinics, medication-assisted treatment programs, and consultative psychiatric services. Caron Treatment Centers — a world-renowned provider of addiction treatment with a long history of expertise in substance use and co-occurring disorders — offers immersive experiences in multi-modal residential care, research opportunities, and addiction medicine electives. At Reading Hospital, fellows train within outpatient substance disorder clinics, work with medication-assisted treatment clinics, participate in emergency medicine addiction consultations, and engage with interdisciplinary teams addressing acute and chronic substance use challenges. The fellowship emphasizes clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership in addiction care, preparing graduates for board eligibility in addiction medicine and careers as clinical experts, academics, and advocates in this rapidly evolving field.
