The Transitional Year Residency Program at Wayne State University School of Medicine provides a one-year broad-based clinical training experience for physicians preparing to enter an advanced or categorical residency program. Residents receive supervised clinical experience in Internal Medicine and other medical disciplines, along with elective rotations that can be selected according to their future specialty interests. The program combines hands-on patient care with bedside teaching, didactic lectures, Grand Rounds, Journal Club, morbidity and mortality conferences, and quality improvement activities. The training is designed to strengthen clinical skills and provide a comprehensive foundation before residents progress to their advanced specialty training.
