The Specialty Pharmacy Residency Program at Reading Hospital – Tower Health provides an immersive training experience within a dual-accredited ambulatory specialty pharmacy that supports patients across the healthcare continuum. Residents will participate in multiple structured rotations — including pharmacy orientation, acute care activities, specialty clinic support (e.g., oncology/hematology, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology), and ambulatory rotations — to build a foundation in medication therapy management, patient counseling, access programs, and care coordination. Longitudinal experiences in population health, leadership, research and project work, and drug policy support development of advanced clinical and administrative skills. The program emphasizes individualized training plans tailored to residents’ strengths and interests and encourages residents to lead quality improvement initiatives and scholarly projects. Residents also gain experience in ambulatory operations, medication access services, on-call specialty support, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing them for advanced practice roles in clinical and specialty pharmacy settings.
