Pharmacy Residency Program

1. PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
2. Eligible for pharmacist licensure in New York State
3. Strong academic record with clinical rotation experience
4. Good communication and clinical decision-making skills
5. Preference may be given to candidates with prior hospital/clinical exposure

The Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a structured, hospital-based training program designed to develop competent clinical pharmacists capable of delivering patient-centered care. The program provides comprehensive exposure to various clinical specialties such as internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, ambulatory care, and pharmacy operations. Residents participate in interdisciplinary rounds, medication therapy management, drug information services, and quality improvement initiatives. The curriculum also emphasizes teaching, research, and leadership skills, preparing residents for advanced pharmacy practice roles or PGY2 specialization.
