The Pharmacy Residency Program at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is a one-year postgraduate training designed to develop highly skilled pharmacists capable of delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care in pediatric hospital settings. Residents engage in a variety of core, elective, and longitudinal rotation experiences that encompass clinical pharmacy services, medication safety, drug information, leadership, therapeutics review, and drug distribution systems. Rotations include general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, infectious diseases consult services, hematology/oncology, neonatal intensive care, pharmacy leadership and management, and elective experiences such as pharmacogenomics or ambulatory care. The program emphasizes development of clinical reasoning, communication, research capability, and stewardship of medication-use systems, with opportunities for teaching, therapeutic projects, monograph development, and conference participation. The residency positions are limited (typically two PGY1 positions), offer professional mentorship, and prepare graduates for potential PGY2 specialization or direct clinical practice.
