Residency in Internal Medicine

1. Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
2. Meet Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Graduate Medical Education (GME) eligibility requirements.
3. Meet California medical licensure requirements, including obtaining a Post Graduate Training License (PTL) or Physicians and Surgeons License as applicable.
4. International medical graduates must meet applicable credentialing and licensing requirements.
5. Applicants must submit a complete application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
6. Applicants must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for first-year residency positions.

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a three-year training program providing comprehensive clinical and academic education in adult medicine. Residents receive hands-on experience in inpatient and outpatient care, intensive care, emergency medicine, and a wide range of medical subspecialties. The program includes structured teaching through Morning Report, Grand Rounds, case-based conferences, simulation training, and board preparation. Residents also have opportunities for research, scholarly activities, mentorship, and career development while caring for a diverse and medically underserved patient population.

3. The Internal Medicine Residency Program reviews submitted applications.
4. Selected applicants are invited for interviews.
5. Submit rank preferences through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
6. Applicants selected through the match complete Harbor-UCLA Graduate Medical Education and California licensing requirements before starting residency.
