Postdoctoral Fellowship in Addiction Medicine

The Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Aurora Health Care is a structured, one-year postgraduate clinical program designed to train physicians to become proficient clinicians and leaders in addiction medicine. The fellowship combines direct patient care, didactic instruction, and multi-disciplinary clinical rotations across hospital and outpatient sites. Core experiences include evaluation and management of substance use disorders, screening, brief intervention, withdrawal management, psychiatric collaboration, infectious disease considerations, and specialty addiction care services. Fellows rotate through multiple clinical settings to gain broad exposure, including addiction treatment programs and community-based care environments. Through a combination of continuity clinics, core clinical rotations, elective experiences, and scholarly activity, trainees deepen their knowledge in addiction medicine epidemiology, neurobiology, pharmacology, behavioral addictions, and evidence-based therapeutic modalities. The program emphasizes professional development, clinical competency, and preparation for board eligibility in addiction medicine.
