Fellowship in Addiction Medicine

• Must have completed (or be completing) an ACGME-accredited residency, or an equivalent RCPSC or CFPC residency program.
• Must possess an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree.
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have ECFMG certification.
• Must meet the University of Illinois Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements.
• Must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

The Addiction Medicine Fellowship is a 1-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program that provides advanced training in the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders and addictive behaviors. Fellows gain comprehensive clinical experience across inpatient addiction consultation services, outpatient addiction clinics, withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), pain medicine, behavioral therapies, and community-based addiction programs. The program emphasizes evidence-based addiction care, interdisciplinary collaboration, research, teaching, quality improvement, and leadership development, preparing graduates for independent practice and board certification in Addiction Medicine.
