Pediatric Residency Program

1. Applicants must hold a medical degree from an eligible medical school.
2. Submit United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination Level 1 scores.
3. Submit United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 Clinical Knowledge or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination Level 2 scores by the required deadline.
4. International medical graduates must have a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification.
5. United States clinical experience is preferred for international medical graduates.
6. No minimum examination score is specified.

The Pediatric Residency Program at the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) provides comprehensive clinical training in the care of infants, children, and adolescents, including preventive healthcare, common childhood illnesses, and complex medical conditions. Residents gain hands-on experience in inpatient and outpatient pediatrics, neonatal care, pediatric subspecialties, and community healthcare through clinical rotations at Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego and affiliated facilities. 1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service.
2. Submit the Medical Student Performance Evaluation, personal statement, medical school transcript, and three letters of recommendation, including the department chair’s letter.
3. Provide examination score reports and the National Resident Matching Program applicant number.
4. Submit the complete application by November 1.
5. Attend a virtual interview if invited.
6. Participate in the National Resident Matching Program residency match.
