Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program

1. Applicants should have solid academic credentials.
2. A complete application must include a current photograph, personal statement, medical school transcript, Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), examination scores, and three Letters of Recommendation, including one from the Obstetrics and Gynecology chair.
3. For United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) applicants, Step 1 and Step 2 must be passed on the first attempt. The program prefers scores of 240 or higher.
4. For Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) applicants, Level 1 and Level 2 must be passed on the first attempt. The program prefers scores of 580 or higher.
5. International Medical Graduates are eligible, but the program offers a J-1 visa only and does not sponsor H visas.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, provides comprehensive four-year training in obstetrics and gynecology, with extensive experience in both routine and high-risk patient care. Residents receive training in gynecologic surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, urogynecology, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, family planning, and other subspecialty areas. The program also provides opportunities for research, electives, simulation, and multidisciplinary clinical training, preparing residents for independent practice or fellowship training.

4. The program reviews applications and invites selected candidates for interviews.
5. Selected applicants participate in virtual interviews through Zoom.
6. For the 2026 recruitment cycle, interviews are scheduled from November through December 2026.
7. The program accepts 9 residents per year through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
