Neurotology Fellowship Program

1. Completion of the required Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency training before starting the fellowship
2. Must meet UCSF requirements for appointment to an ACGME-accredited fellowship
3. Must be eligible to obtain a California Postgraduate Training License (PTL), which is the stated licensure requirement for the program
4. Candidates should have the appropriate clinical and surgical background for advanced training in otology, neurotology, and lateral skull base surgery

The Neurotology Fellowship at UCSF is a two-year, ACGME-accredited advanced training program focused on otology, neurotology, and lateral skull base surgery. Fellows receive comprehensive clinical, surgical, and academic training in hearing and balance disorders, cochlear implantation, vestibular care, and complex lateral skull base conditions, with high operative exposure and multidisciplinary collaboration with neurosurgery. The program also emphasizes research in areas such as cochlear implantation, vestibular disorders, auditory neuroscience, and inner-ear imaging, along with teaching through temporal bone courses and resident education. Fellows have access to specialized facilities including the Schindler Temporal Bone Laboratory and advanced audiologic and imaging resources, preparing them for academic medicine, complex clinical practice, and leadership roles in neurotology.
