The UAB Neurosurgery Residency Program is a seven-year residency designed to provide comprehensive clinical, surgical, and professional training in neurosurgery. The curriculum offers progressively increasing responsibility in patient care and includes training in clinical neurology, vascular neurosurgery, tumor surgery, spine surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, adult neurosurgery, critical care, and trauma. Residents also receive structured education in evidence-based medicine, research, journal review, and clinical outcomes. The program combines didactic teaching, self-directed learning, computer-based education, cadaveric dissection, and hands-on clinical and surgical experience, with the final year serving as the Chief Residency year.
