Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship

1. Applicants must have completed Pediatrics residency training.
2. Graduates of Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)-approved United States or Canadian medical schools are eligible.
3. Graduates of American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-accredited osteopathic medical schools are eligible.
4. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
5. United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3 must be successfully passed before joining the fellowship.
6. International Medical Graduates must be eligible for a J-1 visa, have permanent resident/Green Card status, or qualify for an H-1B transfer

The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is a three-year program providing advanced training in the care of critically ill newborns and high-risk pregnancies. Fellows train at the Sheldon B. Korones Newborn Center at Regional One Health and the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, gaining experience in neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, transport, intensive care, and management of very-low-birth-weight, cardiac, surgical, and critically ill infants. The program also emphasizes simulation, multidisciplinary education, research, teaching, quality improvement, and preparation for independent clinical practice in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

1. Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Applicants are encouraged to complete their application by early July for early review.
3. Positions participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
4. Submit a personal statement describing interests in Neonatology and training goals.
5. Submit a current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
6. Submit three letters of recommendation, preferably including one from the Pediatrics residency program director.
7. International Medical Graduates must submit an ECFMG certificate, if applicable.
8. Applicants are selected for interviews based on United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores, recommendation letters, and other application documents.
9. Interviews are conducted virtually.
